Northern Majorca holds some of the island's most beautiful sunsets, and Port d'Alcúdia is one of those places where the sky turns orange over a huge, calm bay. If you're looking for where to watch the sunset in Alcúdia in peace, with a great view and, even better, a cocktail in hand, this local guide takes you to the best spots and tells you exactly when the sun goes down each month.
The best spots to watch the sunset in Port d'Alcúdia
The Bay of Alcúdia is the great stage: it faces southeast, so the sun doesn't drop straight into the sea. Instead, the light spills over the Tramuntana mountains behind you, painting the water and sand in pink and gold. It's a soft sunset with long-lasting colours, perfect for an unhurried stroll.
Beach and seafront promenade
The Port d'Alcúdia seafront promenade and its fine-sand beach are the most accessible and rewarding option. The beach faces east, so at dusk it's bathed in warm, serene light, ideal for photos and for one last swim of the day. Alcanada and its lighthouse
Just minutes away, the Alcanada area offers a more intimate scene: the small islet with a lighthouse off the coast is one of the most photographed corners in the north. The rocks, the pines and that lighthouse silhouetted against the sky make the golden hour a postcard moment, with far fewer people than the main beach.
The old town and its walls
If you prefer height and stone, the medieval walls of Alcúdia and the old town's viewpoints offer a different perspective, with the bay in the distance and golden light slipping through the historic lanes.
The sunset with a cocktail at Enjoy Terrace
When the sun starts to dip, there's no better plan than to raise the level of your sunset with a well-made drink. At Enjoy Terrace (Av. Tucán 1, Port d'Alcúdia) we've made that hour our speciality: signature cocktails and premium shisha on a terrace designed for watching the evening fall in style. Our motto says it all: "Where nights begin". This is where the night starts in Alcúdia.
We open daily from 5:00 pm, just in time to grab a spot before the magic hour. A mojito, a signature negroni or something from the seasonal menu, the gentle glow of shisha and a sky changing colour: that's the sunset we recommend. For pairing ideas, read our guide to cocktails and shisha on a terrace in Alcúdia.
What time does the sun set in Alcúdia? Month by month
Sunset times change a lot over the year, so it's worth planning ahead so you don't miss the moment. These are the approximate times in Port d'Alcúdia:
- June and July: the sun sets late, around 9:00-9:15 pm. It's the best season for a long, warm sunset.
- August: around 8:30-8:45 pm, still with mild evenings.
- May and September: around 8:00 pm, with very pleasant temperatures.
- April and October: between 7:00 and 8:00 pm depending on the week.
- Winter (November to February): much earlier, between 5:30 and 6:15 pm.
A local tip: arrive at least half an hour before sunset to enjoy the pre-sunset light, which is usually the most spectacular. In summer, that means booking a terrace table from 8:00-8:30 pm.
What to do after the sunset? Keep the night going
The beauty of Port d'Alcúdia is that the sunset is only the beginning. When night falls and you fancy changing the pace, the party continues just steps away. At Outxide Club (same location, Av. Tucán 1) the night carries on with techno, house and reggaeton, international DJs and VIP service, Thursday to Saturday from 11:00 pm. Its motto says it all: "The night continues".
And if the plan calls for dinner before or after, the area has options for every taste: find more ideas in our Alcúdia nightlife guide. Between sunset, cocktails, dinner and dancing, Port d'Alcúdia is the calm, stylish alternative to the buzz of Magaluf or Playa de Palma, without giving up a great night out.
So there you have it: pick your favourite spot on the bay, work out sunset time by the month and reserve your place on the terrace. The best sunset in northern Majorca is waiting for you, drink ready.
